French and European president Nicolas Sarkozy will make the European Army the major theme during his nations six-month presidency of the EU. On June 17 Sarkozy addressed French military oligarchs and assured them “whatever the future of the Treaty of Lisbon” he would persevere at bringing the supranational war force to life.
While the latest no vote to the European Constitution cum Treaty brought to 3 the number of nations rejecting the concepts the votes represent 100 percent of the actual voting public. The people do not want another Holy Roman Empire with appointed divine right, immune rulers handing laws out that only further the regimes and their friends.
Part of the rejected articles contained “progressive framing of a common union defense policy.” Sarkozy wants an army with at least 60,000 soldiers that could be sent to war for up to a year anywhere in the world for any reason.
Sarkozy went beyond the call for a supranational army that will speak for the EU with one giant gun. Sarkozy stated: "I am of the conviction that it is France's vocation to carry this ideal of peace and liberty. It is Europe's ideal to embody it in the current world. For Europe, whatever its institutional ups and downs, has overcome its divisions, its historic confrontations, to create, with an ever closer union, a unique model of cooperation between our nations.”
Sarkozy really believes that it is the job of the French to carry the ideal of peace and liberty as the French see it. Of course the French ideal of peace and liberty only extends to French in their own nation and their recent riots caused by prejudicial laws suppressing minorities and stripping the liberties of its own citizens to make choices outside the governments dictums.
Yet that is not the biggest fear here. The Irish no vote was in part from the perception that the ideals of a federal EU government with an Army would infringe on their right to remain neutral in the idiocies of pompous governments trying to one up each other. In fact most people of Europe were hoping that the EU was a means to dismantle the borders and criminal war activities carried on for centuries by the ruling elite. As the time passes most Europeans have now become aware of how dangerous it is to have laws repress you passed by governments in foreign countries who were never elected and have complete immunity for their actions.
Sarkozy is a man with a mission and is well ensconced in the royal power train from birth. His rise to power came as he walked over and advantaged himself over everyone and everything in between. We are faced with a man driven by power whose every hand gesture is calculated. Europe does not need a Fourth Reich to speak against the world. It does not need a giant faceless supranational-armed force to “help out at home and abroad.” It needs fewer borders, less restrictions, less government and more openness. No more Armies to inflict ones subjective realties on other nations. This has not worked for centuries at claiming peace and it will not work for the future.
