The telecommunication companies that worked closely with the illegal spying on Americans, demanded by the executive branch and their agents Homeland Security, are liable for criminal actions. President Bush wants desperately to help his friends that helped him carry out illegal spying. While it may be endearing to see such comradery between two corporations it is still aiding and abetting criminals.Congress is well on its way to condone past crimes and make what is illegal legal for the benefit of Bush and the detriment of the people.

The mass media glosses over the facts that over 40 lawsuits have evolved from the illegal spying that the telecoms, in cahoots with the president, has inflicted on Americans in secrecy. With the help of mass media like the NY Times, The New York Times kept silent about the crimes for over a year, leaving them also complicit of knowingly obstructing justice for that year. Focusing on the battle for immunity for crimes being glanzed over with Bush statements like “The American people understand we need to be listening to the enemy.” Mr. Bush, the American people are not the enemy. The American People know a crime has been committed by its president and the phone companies.

Republicans have been well greased by the telecoms to lobby for their immunity for their crimes while the opposition wants to know what crimes they have committed before handing out immunity. The phone companies want to get out from the liability of their breaking the law merely at the request of the President. The Constitutional checks and balances having failed the people as the out of control executive makes divine right proclamations from the executive branch law.

If ever an example of complicit corruption in the politicians that front for the corporations in the USA the congress will not only pass retroactive laws to legalize the illegal activities but will forgive all the major corporations for complying with the illegal demands made by the White House.

As the last resemblance of a Republic fades from the incorporated body that rules the people of America many should be asking what happened to the Constitution? Why we are no longer a Republic with freedom and liberty but are now a Socialist Democracy with a corporate government that grants itself full authority with immunity from its own laws while disabling Habeas Corpus and spying on its own with impunity. One of the reasons America was created through war was to get out from under that kind of mindset. This is one more step to a monarchy where the office of the president has made it clear it is above the law and the Constitution “a mere piece of paper” to be hung on the wall and forgotten.

People and companies working for their governments committed the major crimes of the last centuries. These companies knowingly committing illegal acts thinking the government are always right. This does not work. Doing the same things the German rulers did when made to stand and account for their illegal actions the phone companies are “just following orders.” Did the world allow such excuses for criminals? I think it is time to bring to task those who would do evil when the orders come from above. People must take responsibility for their actions and so should corporations. No immunity for crimes against Americans.

It is time for people to demand their States take back their rights and make the Federal corporation do the will of the people not the will of the president and his corporations. Time to use the interent with secure software for communications rather than trust a government whose obligations are remiss.
