Due to the increased need for government surveillance of its subjects the Supreme Court today upheld the antiquated Poll Tax.

Ruling Monday that states could require individuals to produce picture identification for voting did not violate their Constitutional rights. Justice Stevens stated in the joint opinion that the law “is amply justified by the valid interest in protecting the integrity and reliability of the process.”

The grave problem with the direction the not very supreme court has decided is that the requirement is arbitrary and costly effecting a poll tax on those that cannot provide such identification. States are presumed to be able to subject their voters to whatever requirement for that card is and there lay more problems. None the least is the cost to any individual in time and money to acquire such an ID.

The fact that the courts left open whom would make the requirements for such ID and how the costs to obtain them made this seem an open day for the new poll tax. Homeless and disadvantaged as well as those off the grid will be left with no voice in their subjugations creating a fraudulent government based on the subservient who have the money and time to acquire the trappings for power.

I guess this is once again a way for the new fascists to keep Osama from voting but what it does to the old remnants of American Freedom is just repugnant.

It is my hope that in my lifetime I may see my nation free again.
